Westchester County, NY is an ideal place for outdoor enthusiasts in the summer. You don’t need to belong to a country club to enjoy the nice weather to the fullest. There are so many parks and outdoor activities that the season is not long enough for visiting all. For people who like to swim, there are many beaches and pools to choose from.
Some communities like Scarsdale, Rye (Rye Golf Club), Eastchester (Lake Isle), and Greenburghave their own pool complexes exclusive to the residents. Season passes can be obtained at each town hall recreation department and the cost is minimal. Non-residents can visit as guests of members for additional fees.
The Westchester County Parks system is open to all county residents. The Saxon Woods Pool in White Plains is part of the parks system. In addition to the pool, there is mini golf, an extensive playground, and ball fields in the complex. There are also Brook at Tibbetts Park in Yonkers and Wilson’s Waves Park in Mount Vernon. They all require a Westchester Parks pass that can be obtained from various locations; the Westchester Parks website has detailed information on it. The pool at Playland in Rye, as well as Playland Beach are open to the general public. So is Croton Point Park beach in Croton-on-Hudson. Glen Island Beach in New Rochelle is for Westchester Countyresidents only. There are also some beach areas as inMamaroneck that are only accessible by town residents.
The Westchester County beaches and pools are open right now and will be operational at least through Labor Day.
